Alachua Multi-County Conducts Migrant Health Fair

Eight people standing in a field

On April 16, 2014 the Alachua Multi-County MEP conducted a migrant health fair at the Straughn blueberry farm in Waldo. The University of Florida Mobile Medical Bus was on site to provide health screenings, services, distribute medications and write prescriptions. The Santa Fe College of Dentistry provided dental screenings and free dental service referrals for workers experiencing dental pain. Numerous other community health agencies were on hand to provide free medical advise and health supplies.

This event also provided a great opportunity for recruitment. A team of 8 recruiters, including two from neighboring Marion County, joined forces and actively recruited throughout the morning. The photo of the recruitment team was taken in the blueberry field at the end of the event.
